Studio Information

What are your studio hours?

Since the COVID-19 closure, we have updated hours of operation in efforts to service you better. We are closed on Sundays. We are also closed daily from 1-2:30 pm for lunch. We operate by appointment only and do not take walk-ins. We accommodate late appointments on Fridays each week. Please see the contact us page for detailed hours.

Do I have to wear a mask to the studio?

Technicians and clients are now required to wear a mask for all services. Masks do not have to be worn while a facial service is being performed, but should be worn upon arrival and only removed during the service. You are welcome to wear your own personal mask, however there will be disposable masks available at the studio.

Where is the studio located?

We are located in the Elizabeth neighborhood of Charlotte. Our address is 1511 E. 7th Street Charlotte, NC 28204. We are directly across from St. Martin’s Episcopal Church.

What form of payment do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards, along with apple pay. In addition we also accept Cash App as a form of payment.

Can I bring my kids to my appointment with me?

Children are very special to us, as we are both moms, but due to the nature of our services, we do not allow children in the studio. If your child must accompany you to your appointment, we require that they go into the treatment room with you. Because of past experiences, we do not allow unsupervised children to wait in the lobby. If you have more questions or would like to discuss your needs on an individual basis, please contact us.

I am trying to reach you via phone but cannot get an answer, when I call the number listed. What should I do?

Due to the nature of our business and the personalized service that each client receives, there are times that we are unable to answer the phone. Especially in the middle of a session. It is best to text us, however please understand that we check messages between clients and it may take time to receive a response.

For your convenience and ours, we have online booking and you will find it much easier and quicker to book your service online either from our “appointments” page, or directly on our booking site at www.vagaro.com/queensugarstudio

Can I add an additional service once I arrive at the studio?

Unfortunately No. All services now require an appointment. We can no longer allow un-booked additions to appointments. If you want to have several areas treated, you must add each area to the original booking. This will help me to prevent overlapping in appointments and minimize the number of people inside the studio at one time. Contact us if you need help booking multiple services.

How early can I arrive to the studio for my appointment?

Please do not enter the studio until your designated appointment time. If you arrive to the studio early, please remain in your vehicle until your appointment time. We strive for only one client inside of the studio at all times. This is for your protection, minimizing your contact with other clients, and allowing us time to sanitize areas between appointments.

My friend wants to come with me to my appointment, is there room for her to join me?

As a result of COVID-19, we have updated our policies to protect our clients, staff and families health and safety. Therefore, guests are no longer allowed to join you for your appointment. Any person that is not being serviced, will not be allowed in the studio and must wait in the vehicle until your service is completed.

Products and Services

What is the “Sugar”?

We use an all natural sugar paste to perform all body sugaring services. It is made with 4 natural ingredients...Sugar, Water, Lemon, Gum Acacia.

What type of wax do you use for your waxing services?

We use a combination of hard and soft wax for Brazilian/Bikini, and underarm wax services. For all other wax services including brows, legs, etc. we use soft wax only. Our hard and soft waxes are both gentle and hypoallergenic.

What different Bikini services do you offer?

These service names are very interchangeable and each salon and spa may reference each service differently. However, at Queen Sugar Studio, a bikini is the area of your pantyline only. This includes your inner thigh on each side and across the top of your vagina. This service does not include the vaginal lip or anal area.

A Full Bikini includes the full front vaginal area, with no anal area.

A Brazilian service at Queen Sugar Studio includes the entire front and rear of the vaginal area. You are welcome to request a landing strip if this is your preference.

What is the difference between your Regular and Maintenance services?

Our regular Brazilian/Full Bikini services is designed to remove virgin hair from a client that has either never had a hair removal service before...OR...has had it removed but it has been a while AND they have used another method (shaving, hair removal creams, etc.) in between services.

Maintenance Brazilians/Full Bikini services are designed for clients who maintain their hair removal consistently, generally every 4-6 weeks. If you receive wax or sugar services on a consistent basis, without doing anything to the hair between services, then this is the service for you.

Do I qualify for the Maintenance price, even if I got my last wax/sugar service at a different place?

Yes you do. It does not matter where you received your prior service, as long as you have not manipulated the follicle by shaving or using a hair creme, you are eligible for the maintenance service.

Is there any “prep” work that I need to do before getting my hair removal service?

There is no particular thing that you need to do to prepare for the service. However, some people like to take a pain reliever or Ibuprofen about 30 minutes prior to their appointment. In addition, we recommend for you to allow your hair to grow beyond the “stubble” phase of growth, and please refrain from trimming. If the hair is too long at the time of your appointment, we will trim it prior to beginning the service. It will also help begin exfoliating your area 1 to 2 times per week, and remember to moisturize daily.

Is there any instructions for caring for my skin AFTER my service?

We highly recommend for you to begin exfoliating your skin 1 to 2 times per week with either an exfoliating glove, or a sugar/salt scrub. Please wait 3 days after your service to begin exfoliating. In addition, it is also very important to moisturize your skin daily, using a cream based moisturizer, such as cocoa or shea butter. We do not recommend using any type of oil in that area, as some oils can clog your pores and cause unwanted breakouts.

How long does my hair need to be in order to get sugared or waxed?

We prefer that you allow your hair to grow a full two weeks before your sugaring appointment. It is important for your hair to grow beyond the “ stubble” phase, in order to maximize the results of the hair removal service.

Will the service hurt more if my hair is longer or shorter?

From a sugaring perspective, it is often assumed that the shorter the hair, the less the service will hurt. This is a misconception. With Sugaring, the level of pain is more influenced by the texture of the hair, as opposed to the length. When allowing hair to grow, it is best to allow the hair to grow beyond the “stubble” phase of growth prior to removal service. Stubble hair is short, brittle, and very resistant. This type of hair can increase the level of pain experienced during the service.

Do you perform “below the belt” services for men?

Unfortunately, we do not offer any below the belt services for men at this time.
